Nursery School Sponsorship
Our chosen nursery school is the Gambian Reality Nursery School in Sanyang. Sanyang is a South Kombo Village and is accessed by the main Kombo coastal highway. It is a traditional, rural community whose large population is mainly Mandinka,Fula, Wolof and Jola.The main trades in Sanyang are farming and fishing.
Currently there are 60 children registered at the school (ages 3 - 10) with more wanting to register. There are currently 18 children requiring sponsorship in this school.
Sponsoring a child costs just £20/$40 per year
£5 will go towards uniform
£5 will pay school fees for a year
£10 will provide breakfast and a hot lunch for a year
Each of the sponsors will receive their chosen childs personal details a. A PO Box number will also be supplied so you can write to the child or their families. All letters are vetted by an adult.
Primary School Sponsorship
Our chosen primary school is Bakau Lower Basic in Bakau.
Sponsoring a child at primary school level is more expensive due to higher uniform & equipment costs. A meal is also paid for each day.
Sponsoring a child costs just £150 a year and gives these kids a real chance of a good education. Bakau has approx 1500 children of which only about 30 are sponsored.
